Attributes describe characteristics of a product that customers can read but not choose - e.g. Author, Pages, Material, Weight. For selectable variations (size, color) use Options instead.
Attribute groups
Attributes are organized in groups (e.g. "Technical specs", "Book details") so related attributes stay together on the product page. Create the group first, then add attributes to it.
Creating an attribute
- Go to Catalog → Attributes Click Add, pick the attribute group
- Enter the attribute name (e.g. "Author")
- Save - the attribute becomes available on product edit pages
Using attributes on products
Open a product, find the Attributes section, select values for each applicable attribute. Values are displayed on the product page by the theme, typically in a specifications table.
