Taxonomies are classification systems used to group content - the built-in ones being categories and tags for posts and products. This page lets you manage additional taxonomy definitions added by plugins.
Built-in taxonomies

Custom taxonomies
Plugins can register extra taxonomies (e.g. Genre for books, Brand collections). Registered taxonomies appear in this list and get editor + frontend support identical to categories.
